Shanghumugham Beach-Trivandrum

Shanghumugham beach is is located near the Trivandrum Airport.Its a nice beach to enjoy the calmness and watch the sea waves far away from the madding crowd. An indoor recreation club, Children's Traffic Training Park and a Star Shaped restaurant are some of the facilities at the beach. A gigantic, 35 m long sculpture of a mermaid called the 'Matsya Kanyaka' is the major attraction of the beach. It has been done by Kanayi Kunjuraman who is famous for his stone sculptures. The 'Matsya Kanyaka' looks exactly like a mermaid. She is kept in a big lawn, where people normally pose for photo. The sunset view is a must watch view. Hours seems like minutes while we sit on the beach enjoying the breeze. There is an Indian Coffee House nearby the beach. Each of the chairs faces the sea. The Coffee House offers a wide variety of dishes and also good coffee. You can sip your coffee and can watch the sea waves lashing, sitting in the Indian Coffee House. Apart from the Coffee Houses there are lots of "Thatukadas" where they will prepare instant dishes and give you. So don’t miss the serenity and tranquility of this beautiful beach.
